Understanding fire safety regulations in the UK

In 2024, Fire Safety Regulations in the UK emphasise stricter requirements for fire door/ external wall safety and compartmentation in multi-occupancy buildings (domestic and commercial). Fire doors must be certified to withstand fire for at least 30 minutes (FD30) or 60 minutes (FD60) per BS EN 1634. You must ensure proper installation and regular maintenance of functional closers, hinges, and seals, with doors closing correctly and undamaged.
